    Posters leaving

I'll be gutted if the lads who say they're off don't come back...some really good posters we'll have lost if that's the case and we have few enough posters anyway.

I'd like to think they'll take a couple of deep breaths, take a break and be back in time for the footy starting again. Hopefully, even if they've said they're definitely off, saying that won't make them stick to it...everyone says stuff they don't mean when they're pissed off.

As for the reasons they're off, for me, it'd be better to stay and 'fight' for your forum. I ignore the wind-up comments and just discuss the genuine footy posts and that seems to work pretty well. If everyone did the same then I reckon the comments would eventually stop-and even if they didn't, they'd be confined to those posts whilst the rest of us get on with discussing genuine differences of opinion....which no-one has a problem with, imo.

Anyhoo, just my thoughts. Now off to put something-anything-on me sunburned shins...

I try to do the same as much as I can, Zip. But I don't quite find it as easy as you seem to do. If you post something or reply to a post about football and it suddenly descends into stuff that is not about football, I think it's natural to stay in it and fight your cause. If it gets personal, once you're involved, it's quite hard to just let it slide. Best to try not to get involved, but it can be pretty hard to avoid actually.

Having said that, I'm not going anywhere, though I've had to take some breaks occasionally because there literally were no threads about football that didn't descend into personal attacks. When that happens, I try to stay out of it, and post new threads about whatever I can come up with, rumours etc. That usually helps a little

Agreed, everybody can have different opinions, thoughts, about all things football, and have meaningful debates. Unfortunately there are posters on here who are not content unless they are being, deliberately,in my view, controversial with their comments about our manager, club, particularily supporters, calling them ,clowns, idiots, sheep we all know the rest, which only proves that they are not legitimate Newcastle fans at all. They are only on here to disrupt, and we cant allow that, ignoring them is the best solution, but as Hughie says its not so easy, lets keep it to football lads eh.

Aye, it's not that it's wrong to not have the same opinion, it's that it seems like a deliberate attempt to wind other posters up. One thing is that it's annoying, another is that it seems to ruin other posters joy of coming on here.

Exactly this and the annoying thing is that this always appears to be the avowed intention. It's sad really and in another sphere would require medical investigation.

The problem is decent Footballing threads get constantly hijacked by the same numptys so i get why some people choose to leave and not waste time discussing something knowing certain people will just hijack the thread and drive everyone else away. The amount of decent threads ive seen sink on here is mental because of the same baiting and bullsh!t that either takes over the thread or pushes decent threads to lower pages.
