    He was meant to be one of the refs at the '86 world cup but missed out as he was struck off due to his 'improprieties' so too early for it to have been the gentleman you are alleging.

    A long time ago min! Well before social media and with a surname like Smith or indeed a married name of which I have no clue will be impossible to find.

    I googled McGinlay. I remember him being my old boy's favourite ref. Hard to believe he is still involved with football and giving after dinner speeches after all that nonsense he got involved in !
