It's all well and good having ambition but the goals of this guy are clearly nothing more than fantasy. Killie are certainly on the up while they hold onto Steve Clarke but any continued success will simply mean that one of the better English sides from the lower leagues will whisk him away and that is the sad reality as it has always been but more so now with the ridiculous money swilling about in the English leagues as a consequence of the Sky sponsorship. The SPFL teams, out with the old Firm, struggle to compete financially against the English Championship and even their First Division.

Spike, Jack Ross is a prime example; - he leads St. Mirren to the SPL, - but is effectively 'stolen' by Sunderland.

Having said that, - it is extremely important to market what we have properly and deal with the consequences of a successful team appropriately.

Far better to be fending off clubs for the highest offer and reinvesting in the club, than accepting mediocrity to avoid that situation!

Mediocrity breeds disinterest and we must strive to avoid that.

David Hopkirk also leads Livingston to the Premiership and looks to be leaving for a club in England with Barnsley and Carlisle interested.

Meanwhile at Palmerston our Manager hopes to make the top four but also to avoid the relegation play-offs. Poor tactics at home makes people do shopping!

Spot on Jardi and a timeless issues with talent being snatched from under our noses for peanuts but then again most players even mediocre one seem to have agent these days and the trend is to sign only relatively short term contracts leaving the players options open at the end of ever season. Not sure what the answer to this perennial issues is?

Spike football's problem is replicated in society, - why have most companies not bothered with the apprenticeship scheme? - simply because they take all the risk, provide all the training and nurturing plus cover all the expenditure, - then as soon as the young person is qualified, - they walk out the door to pastures new without giving a fig for their employers.

What is required, I think, is an acceptance of all this nurturing which cannot simply be ignored, - or else the future is very bleak indeed.

It's all fair and well for an agent to demand a cut, - but the footballing authorities need to take cognisance of the incredible amount of work that grass roots clubs do to create the players for the future.

I'd like to see youth clubs being rewarded with cash injections rather than agents plucking the cream and reaping the rewards of other people's endeavour.

Equally, - the Queens Park's of this world and teams like our own Queens should be rewarded for their efforts behind the scenes on cold and wet winters days by the bigger clubs.

In that way, there might be a future and clubs might be able to see a raison d etre for their efforts with a redistribution of income.

As with all capitalist enterprises, the ultimate goal is to swallow up the competition, - which is OK up to a point, - but once you've eliminated all the opposition, - you're left effectively playing with yourself,..........which I suppose is what the SFA are doing!

Jardi all good and valid points with ultimately the governing bodies need to ensure that the grass roots are adequately funded to develop new young talent or the game simply dies in Scotland. Backing up you parallel with industry I work for a large multi national manufacturing company which when I started had its own training schools and staff to teach apprenticeships. This was lost in the 1990's through to the 2000's as accountant reckoned this important skill base could be supplied from existing schools and colleges however the quality of the new input was not up to scratch meaning that we are now having to construct new training facilities at the cost of millions even having to teach imperial measurement so they can work on US products.
Back to the football it is either the SFA or the Scottish government to come up with some form of structure where some of the money destined for the Premier league clubs is filtered downwards towards the grass roots and start by ensuring that the schools have appropriate playing fields rather that the sell off we have been witnessing after which they complain about the lack of exercise associated with youths. I loved nothing better as a lad than a kick about where ever we could come rain or snow, light or dark a sight which is becoming increasingly rare.
