    O / T - Carlisle (Lake District) Airport

The opening up of Carlisle's Airport for the first time in 25 years to commercial flights due this week has been put off until September as the could not recruit enough air traffic controllers. Initially flights are to be to London (Southend), Belfast and Dublin.

I guess that there are only so many highly qualified air traffic controllers needed for one country and that there are no surplus ones awaiting the opening of new airports.

Seemingly they have recruited 3 but for safety reasons need 6. Scottish firm Loganair are the airline.
