One thing I do agree with Gareth on, I believe he said he thought the performance was better against Tunisia, I'm with him on that, despite the score, I thought we played far better in the first half against Tunisia than at any point in the game yesterday.
Sinkov I will be mightily surprised if Sterling does not start against Belgium but how long this continues is up to GS. Sterling must provide goals as well as his link up play surely? There is a case for Rashford or indeed Vardy to replace him if he cannot convert chances.

Pickford will be in goal. I don’t think he will get the blame for not saving a penalty or for the defensive error that lead to Panama’s goal. That said he was imo at fault at Turf Moor for both Burnley goals. He has his critics but GS is not one of them.

Will we try to win against Belgium and will they try to win against us. With Hazard and Lukaku rested it looks like Martinez wants to lose.

Winner will likely face Brazil or Germany in QF vs Mexico or Switzerland for second
In SF it’s likely to be one of Russia Portugal France or Nigeria for the winner vs Spain Uruguay Croatia or Denmark for second.

I can see players getting booked last minute to lose top spot if it’s a draw.

I think Gareth is desperate for Sterling to succeed Outwood, it's no coincidence he was on the end of the free-kick routine that Stones had to finish for him, or that he got the full 90 minutes against Panama. Gareth gave him every chance but he didn't take it, I'll be amazed if he starts against Belgium.

He will probably rest him against Belgium so that he can bring him back in for the next game after that.

Southgate acts like a bloke who really does loyalty. Persevering with a goalless striker is stretching the loyalty bit too much for me.

    .

it begins - first testing game is against Belgium - though sad but hillarious....if both teams are out to lose it.

1-1 draw nailed on. Sinkov will provide the odds imminently.

11/2 with a few bookies. I'm not betting on it, in fact I've now stopped betting on any game involving VAR. It was bad enough putting my money in the hands of an incompetent referee, but add on a whole team of them and a row of video screens as well, bollox to that, I'll stick to the gee-gees.

If you watched last night's Iran and Portugal VARS debacle sinkov, you will know that it is a totally impracticable concept. Every decision the players didn't like they started making TV screen gestures.

Honestly, there must have been a whole ten minutes spent on us watching a totally inept referee watching VARS! Bonkers!

I agree BT it is becoming a farce.
Spain save face by a toenail in the last minute 2-2 draw against Morocco Portugal (Ronaldo) miss a Penalty and concede a very dodgy VAR one in the last minute to draw 1-1 with Iran. Spain win the group Portugal second and Harry still tops the golden boot.

Mo Salah gets his goal but Egypt lose 2-1 to Saudi in overtime as well, whilst Uruguay show how good Russia really are with a 3-0 win. Both teams qualify

Todays games - will the Argies lose out?

    GROUP C
    Australia. 15:00. Peru
    Denmark 15:00. France

    GROUP D
    Iceland. 19:00. Croatia
    Nigeria. 19:00. Argentina
