No I didn't see it BT, due to being on holiday in the wilds of Scotland I won't see another game until we play Belgium. And to be honest, while this VAR farce continues, I'm not bothered, not missing it at all.

The wilds of Scotland are probably the best place to be right now sinkov. This VAR is truly farcical, the constant interruptions to the game are ruining spectator enjoyment and killing the fluency and flow of the game.

Total bobbins and if this carries on it will ruin the beautiful game of football. Enjoy Scotland!

Totally disagree about the referee being inept. The referee, in the first place got the decisions correct, however, he is then put under pressure by 4 others looking at VAR miles away from the action. This is where the problems start because VAR is FIFA's new toy, therefore, when an onfield referee gets the word in his ear that he must review, it is human nature to think that he is wrong because he is basically being told by 4 others that he must review and this will be a very big factor in changing decisions. He is looking after his job and giving a decision which FIFA want.
It is total *******s, as was seen last night. Don't blame the onfield referee, he is the one who is dealing with the pressure on the field and got the penalty decisions correct, in fact, without VAR everyone except Ronaldo would have been very happy about the lack of a penalty decision and Ronaldo would also not have been cautioned for a nothing offence.

The game is going down the pan, aided and abetted by FIFA and the great number of fans who swear by VAR. It is a game which had always created debate and decisions, with or without VAR, will nevver be 100% correct --or if they are the pressure of VAR will negate the correct decision --as was seen.

Cheers BT, the bar manager/head waiter where we're staying is Argentinian, he's well peed off, but not with VAR.

    Agree with you lot.

Bad decisions were always part of the game - part of the experience was arguing in the pub/at work about bad decisions. I have never wanted any technology at all - not even goal line technology.

It is a game played and controlled by human beings...and human beings will never be perfect. i think most people used to accept that?

Sinkov - where abouts in Scotland are you? (Don't worry, I won't come chasing after you)

Goal line technology works because it is plain black and white as to whether or not the whole of the ball crossed the whole of the line --so simple.
LBW in cricket is also black and white if everything falls into the right place within the Laws of Cricket.
Tennis is black and white as to whether or not a ball is in or out.
Rugby decisions mainly centre around tries and this is also fairly black and white as to whether the player crossed the line, whether he grounded the ball correctly and no other offence such as a knock-on was committed --also mainly black and white.
Not many penalty decisions in football fall into this category, as has been seen in this WC, however, they are still insisting in putting unnecessary pressure on the onfield officials with the use of VAR.

Yes Too many ball hits hand are being given when the player had no chance or avoiding the ball. Rugby tackles not given but slight pushes in the back are. It’s a lottery.

59/60, OC we're staying at the Crinan Hotel on a 3 nights for 2 offer, it's reduced the price from ridiculously expensive to just expensive, the proper price is beyond our holiday budget. Been on a boat trip to the Corryvreckan today, probably do a bit of walking alongside the canal tomorrow, the missus likes to do a bit of painting and the views here are spectacular, I just leave her to it and please myself what I do, back to the real world on Thursday.

Sounds great and you are getting the weather. have only been to the Ardrishaig end of the canal.
you will see Denmark and France couldn't score and both go through while Peru beat the Aussies 2-0
Joey got 85mins and played well but Iceland lost to Croatia 2-1 whilst the Argies won after a struggle 2-1 against Nigeria to go through with the Croats.
    Drinks on your barman
