Would you sacrifice the naming rights

If it gave Rafa another 8 mill a season

It's clear he has to generate cash
    That's one way

£8Mil Na not for me ..

If we moved to a new stadium and the naming rights were sold straight off, no problem from me .

But I do think we should be getting some sort of payment of fat so for all his free advertisement plastering all that sh1t all over the stadium ...

Only if we kept the name st james’ Park

E.g. carlesberg @ st james’ park
    Or
    Kellogg’s @ St. James’ park

I agree a new stadium would be a different thing altogether.

To be fare 8 mill is a lot per season for naming rights

    But Rafa has to get
    Money in

And I'm sure if Rafa thought ash was not playing with a straight bat he would have walked

So instead of turning the thread into a would or wouldn't he presume he would

Would you change the stadium name

    I wouldn't personally

In terms of generating income, it's a fair question and my answer would be no.

For me, the name of our ground is synonymous with so much of our heritage-our history and the bond with the city-that changing it wouldn't be worth it at any price. Football has already lost too much of its soul.

As to the wider issue, the name change was probably the final straw with Ashley for me. It's a shame JR isn't around because he was really good with the financial stuff but there's loads out there about how little we've progressed our income streams especially compared to clubs we were on a par with when Ashley first arrived. Fact is, he should be doing more to bring in more money-not making the club pay Sports Direct for their strips, not advertising throughout the ground for for free and all the other stuff. Getting money for changing the name of the ground would be another two fingers to the fans.

And before anyone argues about the lack of interest on his 'loan' and why shouldn't he advertise at his club for free...that has to work both ways: he's happy enough to siphon off money from NUFC to Sports Direct-including the lack of advertising rights payments-but when it's the other way round the club have to pay Sports Direct for kit??

    Pfft

That was his mistake as a businessman. He didn't do due diligence, it's his fault but he's making the club pay for it.

NO. I think this was Ashley's biggest mistake so far and selling the name of the stadium would degrade the club. Maintaining the tradition is what big clubs do and if you can maintain your image as a big club it has financial and other benefits too.

And the debt has more than doubled because of other errors

Should the club keep paying for That?
