I can't think of many players who've spent a year drawing a salary while lying on the treatment table only to waltz off once they're fit again and out of contract. I expect he'll sign again.

What worries me is that what often happens with serious knee or ankle injuries is that the player signs up again, then gets crocked and spends another year on the sidelines before retiring tragically young...

Deadline or no deadline he has a contract till the end of the month after which he doesn't have a contract unless he signs with somebody.
