the only way we can compete with the other sides in the championship for wages is by the lads on the board digging deep in there own pockets to finance it as the fans aint going to come flooding back until queens show proof of challenging for successes . however ,as people say the transfer window isnt over this season yet ,lets just see what kind of quality our manager can pull out the hat ,im affraid it will have to be a good quality tho as the other teams are strengthening bigtime .

It’s not quite as simple as that Francis. I’m sure the BOD’s have already pumped in thousands of pounds of their own money and we can’t except them to do it again. At the end of the day we need to be realistic here. We can’t compete with most of the other clubs financially and our crowds are nowhere near theirs either. We must as a club live by our means and not get sucked into debt like the days of Davie Rae.
All we can hope for is to do what Livi did last season , they’ve shown us all what’s possible on a tight budget

    Completely agree Basher.

Only a few seasons ago, all the fans on this board were saying, - "thank God the club has been saved, and they were eternally grateful for the BOD for doing so."

Eternal in my book means forever not just 72 or 84 months, so come on Francis, - lets be reasonable here and stop suggesting that pumping money into the wage bills delivers a good team. Livingston proved that hard work delivers results as did Croatia last night against Argentina, - so if we can get a squad of hard grafters who are willing to give 100% we'll do very well, - and if we can stop people moaning from the side-lines, we'd all feel a lot better

100% correct Jardi and not sure where this perception that the BoD have bottomless pockets has come from!!

i understand the concern with uping the budgets to compete but comparing what livi did last season and hoping we can do the same is a dream ,these things livi did are once in a blue moon lol ,i think this is one of the most prominent reasons why queens dont attract extra fans as the general public arnt prepared to pay to watch under the current circumstances ,we have to find a balance where we can recruit competitively with the top sides in the league in the wage department to attract the kind of player needed to drive queens forward ,we are stuck with crowds that are dwindling away and we aint looking like an appetizing alternative for floating fans to go watch queens ,something needs to happen in a positive way somehow .

If only we had a player like Stephen Dobbie to watch every week. A guy who’s scored approx 50 goals during the last two seasons ....... Oh wait a minute

And with Gary Harkins to feed Dobbie from midfield you could argue that we have the two most creative players in the division. That aside with the Brownlie situation clarified we certainly need to strengthen the middle of the defence and replace Marshall at left back so hopefully Naysmith can attract some decent recruits to fill these gaps.

well one good thing to take out this is reading what was in the standard at least our manager is looking and trying to offer the proper quality of player to the club thats needed ,i really do think our manager needs to start looking outside the scottish market a bit now at this point as most of the quality needed will be signed up ,maybe he should have a look at the welsh market or the irish ,and a dibble around the english lower league market cause there alot of technically gifted players in these areas at lower status clubs than us .

I'd be looking to the North of England market.

Good shout Francis as we need to scour the available market for defensive quality wherever it can come from. You would have thought that Naysmith would have had connections till with Everton to see if they had academy players needing senior game time as Falkirk have done with Chelsea signing one of their prospects on loan.

Trouble with this scouring lower ingerlund leagues etc.for players is the distance they would have to travel.Relocation packages are not affordable. The dobmeister excluded, can't see many folk willing to come up from further than Blackpool/Lytham to play for the Supersouth.
