Crikey, these sums of money could make a real tangible difference to RUFC. Spread the wealth sensibly, playing staff, facilities, academy set up etc. Think medium to long term and grow at a sustainable rate.

For example, I would look at increasing the away end to accommodate the large championship away followings. Away support is all money in the bank as theres no discount tickets.

Televised fixtures are rare unless you’re Leeds, they should be able to afford the Prem players with the money they have already got from sky.

Agree about away section being extended and TS wants to extend the hospitality (don’t know how that works) but we need to stabilise in the championship

The away capacity at the NYS will hold us back at this level. It needs to be increased for the club to grow. When attendances are published nobody but the saddest of sad sacks is going to analyse the home/away split. People will simply see a nice, steady increase to RUFCs average attendance figures.

Take my favourite club up the road, the dingle dangles, as an example. Their away end (6k) is a third bigger than the home end (4k). They'll glady tell you they got a crowd of 16k for a match but not be quite so boastful of the fact that 6 thousand were away fans from leeds, Sheffield, etc, etc.

At the end of the day, money is money.

Id love to know the cost benefit analysis for increasing the South Stand. I reckon it would be self financing in no time at all.

Plus, on occasions when away support is rubbish, we can always put millers in half the away end as we sometimes do now.

You can't bring 6k away fans to Oakwell these days , SYP have cut the numbers down to 3.5k just for balance mate .

You sure? You gave Wednesday half the wooden stand last season as well as the away end. Dont give me the barnsley propoganda mate. I get enough of that at work.

Some away attendances from Barnsley board. Season before last.

    Largest travelling support at Oakwell:
    Newcastle: 5,501
    Leeds: 5,231
    Sheff W: 5,009
    Huddersfield: 4,619

SYP cant simply half your away capacity whilst not touching the Sheffield clubs. Hillsboroughs away end is diabolical.

    Season before last !!!

They cut it down last season mate , only the middle block is used with the two outside ones left empty .

Nobody's told us why , we assume it's cost cutting linked to serious disorder between the east stand lower section and the block in the away stand nearest that section .

The home game against Leeds Utd in January 2017 was particularly unsavoury in that section , seats used as missiles and a coming together around the corner flag area between the two sets of fans .

Sky covered the game and we were fortunate they chose not to show what was going on .

The two Sheffield clubs offer limited away capacity these days , you got the whole of the Leppings Lane at one time but you just get the top tier now , same at BL , you just get the lower tier .
