    O/T:- Sikh Guardsman

    Sorry, forgot OT.....!!!!!!!!

    [soerted for you ]

A Sikh Guardsman will be allowed to wear a turban at the trooping of the colour, how should we feel about this?

    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-...shire-44413296

He himself said "I hope that people watching, that they will just acknowledge it and that they will look at it as a new change in history,"

I respect the man for joining up as I do anyone who serves, but, should we accept it as the evolution of all aspects of society or is it simply another concession to outside influence over a long, military tradition?

I for one believe that tradition is sacred, if you join the Guards you have to be prepared to wear the Bearskin, however, I'd have absolutely no objections to a Sikh regiment in the British Army where they'd be allowed to cultivate their own traditions?

What if he wears a furry black turban that looks like a bearskin?

Why even bring it up, if the establishment are okay with it that's all that matters.

Really, (so hope I'm missing a note of sarcasm) the establishment are ok with many things that the wider public aren't, just trying to start a reasoned debate but if that's not what you want, don't join in.

Will having a pointless debate change anything. How about a debate on Notts County something that were all interested in.

Tradition is just something that's been done a lot of times. I'm not sure that makes it right or wrong, or sacred. Sometimes it's OK to start a new tradition.

Forgive me, I assumed that there were people here who would enjoy an intelligent conversation regarding their country's history.

Those not interested, should not feel obliged to leave a comment or even read the thread.

History is precisely that, history. The world is evolving in many ways and people should embrace it.
2 points here. Firstly, I thank this man for his services to our country and any sacrifices he makes protecting us all. I applaud him for maintaining his beliefs and keeping to his own traditions. Secondly, this decision would not have been taken lightly, and I suspect someone (probably the Queen) in the Royal house would have been asked, and rightly accepted the request.
