Apart from the one we did starting in Craster in October last year cos we basically walked inland but parallel to the beach for a few miles then headed towards the beach and walked back.

I hadn't been to Great Bavington YH since about 1951 but that view seemed familiar. Don't even know if Great Baving ton is still YHA but in those days it had been converted from a shepherd's house. Happy days hiking those moors, I'm sure you get much satisfaction getting away from it all Zip.

Northumberland's lush but I prefer the Lakes....the silence and stillness you can get on top of a mountain is great for getting things in perspective and just going 'aye....'

I understand what you mean about the stillness. During the war when I was evacuated to a little farm on the North Yorks moors you could walk across the Wainstone Hills about seven miles in one direction with out seeing a human being or a road and on top of the hills the silence and peace was awesome.

hmm I don't know.... get to top of cheviot (via the path), then turn to the left (towards hedgehope?) and just go down that side a little you would think you were totally alone in the whole world.

‘‘Tis a cruel cold place cross fell.
Named because the locals long ogo carried a cross up there and had priests to try and exorcise evil spirits!.( in reality the howling noises and weird fell hugging cloud was a weather phenomenon called the Helm Wind)

We’re the big golf balls ( earlyair warning radar) there in those days??

In the reply box 3rd one from the left is a box with what looks like a picture frame on it.
Click on that and it brings up a box with 2 tabs.
    Tab 1 - From computer.
    Tab 2 - From URL.

To put pics up from your computer, click on Tab 1 and then the insert button. It should take you to your My computer then pick the file as if you were sending an email attachment.
