soo when how is rafa going to get 18 under 23s in and concentrate on the first team

s rafa going to get 18 under 23s in and concentrate on the first team

surely the professional he is he would have had players lined up

how do we stand if we cant field an under 23 side

will he go for local lads
    or scour the continenet

are all these players going to be free

surely he cant get money from ash to spend on the under23s and 40 mill for the fis team

why take a project on like this when it is clear tha the first team needs all his resources at the present time

why get rid of so many in one go
why not over a couple of seasons

    all reasonable qquestions i think

he's gonna delegate, just like they do everywhere else. with him overseeing the whole lot.

so do you think it is realistic to get 18 players in and settled in a few weeks

who is he delegating this to

he hasnt gotten rid of the majority of the coaches

and surely if he has delegated it
the people he has he mustthink are more than capable of bringing in 18 players and staff
ad etting them playing all in a matter of weeks

he has a lot of faith in his backroom staff

if my manage rsuggested such a thing i dont think i would ley him loose
as it seems a huge task to me

i wouldnt want my staff under that pressure

The under 18s move up to the under 23s (with a few signings) and the under 16s move up to the under 18s...

    Natural progression.

The whole academy needs overhauling... its been rotting for 11 yrs (what started that then?)

Rafa has been a little pre-occupied getting us promoted, then staying up.... (which he has achieved despite the club being run like a warehouse)

He has looked throughout the club to see if there are any young uns who can save the club a few quid, and there is precious little. He even put some out on loan, but they are so good, they dont get games for Crewe or Gateshead etc.

Ive watched the under 23s several times over the oast couple of years and to be honest, theyve been fecking awful.

well the under 18s aint all that wallsend

so getting rid of so many as there wasnt enough coming through seems pointless in taking a load of kids on not good enough for the eunder 23 s last season

i agree it needs over hauling of that their is no doubt

but to me it looks like taking your engine out and stripping it to give it an oil change

    little and often

they always het rid of a high percentage of the youth/reserve players.

it's nothing new... maybe there was an extra couple this time.... but at the end of the day as long as they can fulfil obligations, playing wise then there is nowt spoiling.

as has been said this has been long time coming and should have been done years ago

it should have been done years ago

and under most clubs it is
    but not on this scale

if they were gotten rid of as they werent gong to make first team footy
what makes anyone think under 18s will

if he is getting rid of them surely he must be bringing in better quality

players that can make the first team

    mow i might be wrong
but those type of players usually coem at a price

do we have money to spend on these plyers

Well I'm sure our wonderful owner, will make all the funds that the club generates available to our esteemed manager..
It's just a pity that our turnover apart from Sky money has fallen more than any other prem club in the last ELEVEN years

If the players in their early 20's are never going to make it, let them go somewhere else, give them another chance.

It puts the next lot onto their last chance while the overhaul continues.

Rome wasnt built in a day....

But 11 yrs of neglect are gonna take a long time to put right.

They were awful last season Mick but quite a few were loaned out. We got rid of 18 but do we really need to bring 18 in as suggested by OP. As you say it’s a natural progression through the ranks and maybe try to bring 5 or 6 in with a bit of potential.
