    Russia v Saudi Arabia

Well that turned out far more entertaining than I thought it would, I really was expecting a dire 0-0 or 1-0 to Russia, but it was certainly at least as watchable as some of our PL games.

What was laughable though were the studio muppets before the game, Neville, Dixon, Wright, Bilic, all with straight faces and deadly seriousness, telling us that the WC was by far the best, toughest football competition in the world. No it isn't lads, the general level in the PL is much higher, Russia and Saudi Arabia for instance would be played off the park by most PL teams, and the Euros are far harder to win, a much higher standard of teams and generally a higher level of football.

Surprisingly I thought the whole opening spectacle was really quite magnificent.

A bit of Take That, a bit of Putin's menace and a super 5 STAR performance from the Russians.

How on earth did Plymouth Argyle's reserves masquerading as a World Cup team, get a gig though?

You are right on the money with Neville, Dixon, Wright, Bilic and their silly earnestness sinkov.

For their next TV appearance they need to dress accordingly...
