    Joe Thomson

Great shame to see Joe signing for Dunfermline as he would have been a great addition to our squad with that tremendous engine of his in midfield. I am sure the club tried hard to get him but the allure of the bigger club with bigger crowds as well as higher financial rewards will always see us lose out to these types of players who are looking to better themselves. All the best to the lad and hopefully he is treated well on his return to Palmerston considering the performances he put in for us over the last couple of years whilst on loan.

Have to agree it is a shame that we miss out on players of Joe's ability, especially after helping put him in the shop window these last two half seasons. His tremendous lung bursting box to box charges were a treat to watch and while I wish him every success for the future that certainly does not include any games against Queens.

Shame he’s going to another championship side but the reality is he’s not the only player we’ve lost out on in recent weeks due to the size of our budget. Players will go to a club that pays better wages and offers longer contracts and who can blame them.
The Chairman is now faced with a tricky situation. He needs to somehow find more cash for Gary’s budget or we face the prospect of a relegation dog fight in our centenary season

Can we really afford that ?

I have to agree that funds will need to be found and made available so that we can get some quality from the cluster of players still free otherwise it could be a long hard season ahead. We are currently looking very threadbare and the clock is ticking before nothing but the undesirables are left to chose from.

The only saving grace is we already have central midfield covered. Still gutting.

    Dunfermline are certainly meaning business.

Regards to not being able to attract players: this is why it's important to have a manager who can get the best out of what he has and unearth young undiscovered talent - little book of contacts.

Or you either splash the cash, live beyond your means and hope you do well enough to attract a decent fan base.

Bit of a kick in the teeth losing out to the Pars with Joe Thomson. The East End Park club are certainly getting a strong squad together for their promotion push.

This clearly demonstrates that we are operating on an inferior budget to some teams in the Champiomship. The Chairman and Directors are doing their best to put a competitive team on the park with Gary Naysmith trying to get the best out of what we have. The least we can do is stop moaning and get behind the team.

To be fair we have got a nucleous of a decent squad signed. Just need to boost personal numbers especially in defence.
