    Nice one, football, well many sports, must have lifted loads out of poverty and crime, boxing for another.

    Eusebio (700 plus goals in 700+ matches): Raised in an extremely poor society, he used to skip school classes to play barefoot football with his friends in improvised pitches and using improvised footballs. His father died from tetanus when Eusébio was eight years old, so Elisa almost exclusively took the parental care of young Eusébio

    Pele: Pelé grew up in poverty in Bauru in the state of Săo Paulo. He earned extra money by working in tea shops as a servant. Taught to play by his father, he could not afford a proper football and usually played with either a sock stuffed with newspaper and tied with a string or a grapefruit.

    But still good to read the personal view of a success story.
