Well now...a decent ref at last!

What puzzles me is that this seems to be a definite tactic from teams-not just blocking off but actually grabbing and hauling players to the ground. Anyone new to football would think it was a valid part of the game it's happening so much without being punished...until now.

Should have cost more teams than just them though.

Good to see a ref willing to act on it.

LOL Ronaldo clouts a player on the chin, caught on VAR and only gets a yellow. If it had been someone else? He was bricking it while the referee was watching the screen.

That ref last night was terrible, anyone else doing the elbow would have been off but of course they cant send him off he would sulk for a month

VAR is doing what it will (obviously) always do - i.e. show exactly what happened. The problem is that for too long decisions havenīt been made on what actually happened. Corners and free kicks near the box is the classic example where shirt pulling and grappling happen almost every time. The problem is that some refs give penalties for this, sometimes. If the law of the game was appiled properly then VAR would be working just fine.

We need refs with the balls to give free kicks when fouls are made - simple as that.
