Similarly feigning injury..the way footballers go on is pathetic and embarrassing when they get the slightest knock whereas rugby players just get on with it when they've been hit by a challenge that would floor a bear.

I agree that there are cheats in every sport and there are things that go on in a scrum or a ruck that are worse than anything you might see on a footy pitch but the way players in the two sports respond to the ref is so different it's not even funny.
I agree about the respect to the ref in rugby and it's not dealt with as severely as it should be in football but as far as fouling and dirty play there is hardly any difference between the two sports. Certainly not enough for the rugby followers to be smug about.

personally just think the respect shown to match officials is nothing short disgusting imo, as for 'eyegouging etc? of course it happens at times, perhaps,
just wonder where all the rolling around on the pitch doing the dying swan routine ( football) seems to be diffy at rugby games,

professional footballers should just man up and stop poncing about the place and attempting to decieve the ref!
perhaps the word sportmanship and fairplay are more related to rugby than football ever will,

rugby imo is a tough hard game played by sportsmen who take the knocks and get on with it, as for football? well you decide
    stay safe now

All you have to do is take a look at Sergio Ramos. Dirty player. A good defender, but he will never have my full respect.

Well....there's absolutely no point in VAR if they're going to ignore blatant fouling in the box altogether. It's not even as if it was six of one and half a dozen of the other.

    What we said.

Where was VAR when it was needed. . .

Although as one friend pointed out the Ref can ignore it, so for all we know they might have said do you want another look and he chose to ignore.

indeed, if you do not have a lobby of personal interest ie an opponent chooses activate the VAR decision then theres absolutely no point in having the thing at all imo if the decision is the refs alone!!

    Quote from your linky John.

"Like it or not, it is certainly having an impact - 10 penalties have been awarded in 17 matches. The World Cup record is 18 for an entire tournament"

This just proves either how wrong refs have been in the past or how inefficient they are.
