So we pay £20m for Kenedy and assume wages of £70k a week ( nowt excessive)..on a 3 year deal.. total..£31m.

so the next would be a £10m plus wages and theres your £50m gone .

Another sell off and a couple of loans is gonna be it .
Sadly nothing has convinced me your wrong yet

I just find it amazing the way he runs the club. Sell some players for big fees but doesn’t even get half up front but small instalments from the so called big clubs who can afford it, then pay out full fees straight away and factor full wages over 4/5 years into the fee. Feckn ludicrous.

.. Yes, why would he walk away from his wages. That was never going to happen ..

The small matter of £6m compen payable to the club if he walks probably has something to do with it also.

Even on mediocre prem wages a 4 year deal is gonna cost £12- £15m approx .

So even dubravka has probably took £10-£12m out the budget at least. So the signing of a £20m+ player is wholly reliant on selling,

The compensation to the club does not apply in the last 12 months of his contract.

    He is free to go

So how come when we sell a £20m player with 3 yrs on a contract at 40k per week, we dont bolster our funds by £26m?

We have limited funds, we have an ever increasing income from TV, but we havent broken our transfer record in 14yrs despite selling several players for way more than that £16.5m

Cos you know money IN at the toon becomes a smoke and mirrors situation , Dynamo and Penn & Teller are the money in guys , whereas money Out, is a defined amount .

Is he free to go though ? If so ,what's the point of the last year of his contract ?
And why was it stated clubs would have to pay the £6m compen ? .. Surely he could just walk and join said club for nothing .

It was reported by the local press before the end if the season that the £6m was only an issue prior to the last 12 months of his contract, which is why the club have been trying to broker a new deal with him.

There is no way he would sign a new deal if he isnt given the tools to work with.

That is also why if he stays, he is "honouring" his contract.
