    Fair points, on the whole, Champs - especially about the midfield, although I thought Stones had a decent tournament too.
    Sterling is a puzzle to me. He had an excellent first 20 against Croatia and then disappeared.
    As I mentioned earlier, I think he'd be better used as Mowbray did Chapman - an out-and-out winger, playing for the last half-hour.
    As for Kane, it wasn't just him. Most of the traditional No. 9s had a poor World Cup. Giroud and Lukaku, amongst others, were well below par. It seemed to be the more mobile forwards who thrived - not to mention the fact that so many goals came from set-pieces and defensive errors.
    I was lukewarm about VAR, but once the referees had latched on to the fact that they could hold it over the players' heads as a threat, it did reduce the all-in wrestling in the penalty-areas!
    Couldn't England do with a Tugay, though!
