I find it a strange attitude, especially when POTUS is married to one.
I find it strange when you consider the total make up of the USA -- they didn't get to where they are on the back of native Americans, in fact, they were persecuted, rounded up and put in reservations!

A nation built on immigration does not want any more immigrants. White man rules OK.

Oh dear, so typical of lefties, a serious and complex problem reduced to a childish slogan, but that's what TDS does to them. Illegal immigration is a long standing problem in the USA, and it was taken very seriously by the Obama administration, as the facts below show. But a TDS afflicted lefty will never let the facts stand in the way of having a whinge about the Donald.

2010, US Border Agency reported an estimated half a million illegal entries into the USA every year.

The situation was so serious that Obama signed an order allocating an extra 600 million dollars to improve security.

2012, US Border Patrol made 364,000 arrests. There was over 1000km of high security fencing, they employed 21,000 Border Patrol agents, used 10,000 SUVs/Pick-Up trucks and 120 Patrol Boats.

All under Obama, no expense or effort spared to keep illegal immigrants out of the USA, including fences, but don't tell lefties, they don't want to know.

If you wish to debate the challenges of the Palestinians, Syrians, Yemen, Congolese etc etc then I'm up for that. But this issue is about the behavior of the most powerful nation on earth, the "land of the free", a beacon of hope around the world. If Britain adopted this scheme would you be happy? Is it just that your hero Donald Trump is doing it that makes you reluctant to find fault with it?

Will you, at least on this issue, actually come out and condemn his actions? He used the word "infest" to describe migrants. Apparently the right wing Trump supporting media (not your "fake" news channels) in America have described the kids situation akin to being in a Summer camp. https://globalnews.ca/video/4282789/...o-summer-camps
I doubt that she is a mother.

    Rouge state.

59/60, I have not defended Trump or US Immigration policy on this issue, I'm just highly suspicious of the motives of those who are raising the issue for the reasons I've previously explained. The BBC give the game away at the end of their piece, they ask for people to get in touch with them if they have any stories to tell about their problems with US immigration.

So what they are in effect saying to these people is, we're not interested in the reasons you've fled your home country, the persecution and abuse you and your family have suffered, the suffering of your family and friends who you've left behind, we're not interested in any of that, or doing anything about it, just give us another stick to beat the Donald with.

They are using these poor people as a political football. Despicable.

If the US would simply allow free movement of people until they get sorted, the problem would simply evaporate.

Once safe and sorted the calls to return home is too strong to resist.

It's time we did away with boundaries and allowed freedom of movement.

How can anyone know how many people are in a country if there is no record of them arriving? Always flummoxes me does that one.

Don't hold your breath waiting Sinkov. I once asked him to list all the countries in the World where Socialism had been a success, took a week but
the result had me laughing for days.

    .

can't blame folk wanting to move if they're just looking for a better life for themselves/family - much like ancient man shifting to a warmer climate....makes the going easier.
I think the problems at root - so stop the restriction, by helping it grow....makes seeking a change less attractive.

Emotion vs Facts. BBC has never had such problems; why let facts spoil a good story. The kids in cages dates from 2014 Obama era; oh this is so tiring. How many people is enough people? For leftists it seems not until the whole world is in the West from the third World will there be enough migration. Then the welfare State and open borders will finish off the freedoms and virtue the West has achieved. Until that occurs the likes of Soros etc will not be satisfied and this will continue relentlessly whether Trump is in power or not. Make YOUR choice and take the consequences.

Read a piece this morning that the US currently have 30,000 people (age range 1 - 100) incarcerated, simply for seeking undocumented entry into the US.
The Italians are at it, we do it, whatever happened to offering safe haven and sanctuary and how on earth is seeking sanctuary a criminal offence?
Incidentally Deadlydave, it was Reagan who first inspired the US to imprison Haitian refugees and successive US governments have simply continued to incarcerate ever increasing numbers of "aliens".
Might be unjust but it is still a better practice than simply allowing people to drown unaided in the Mediterranean.
Whatever has happened to us and our Christian values?
