Garlick to appoint new Head of PL

Mike Garlick has been invited onto a select panel to help with the appointment of the next Premier League Chief Executive.

The Clarets’ Chairman will form part of the Premier League Remuneration Board, alongside Chelsea Chairman Bruce Buck and Leicester City CEO Susan Wheelan.

The main function of the Board is to determine the remuneration and appointment of senior Premier League executives, but they will also meet to interview for Richard Scudamore’s replacement as head of the organisation.

I hope whoever replaces Scudamore will be more amenable to a bit more money passing down the football chain. The Premier League are too greedy.

Dream on! They will look after their own, as they always have and the rest of the football world can continue to collapse whilst they are doing it. You only have to be involved with football outside of the pyramid system to know just how difficult it is to run clubs at senior level without affordable resources. In fact, this is now becoming a factor in clubs within the pyramid system with some owners being unable to sustain their clubs but having great difficulty in attracting buyers in order that they can carry on.

It is a great shame when you consider the riches floating around at the top of the game.

Once on board the gravy train, you really don't want to get off.
