    True or False ?
A more recent European player you might be familiar with, playing this role would be Bastian Schweinsteiger.
A beautiful English example of late is Leeds Unied player Luke Murphy.

The 'Enganche' is a Argentinian footballing term, which is used to describe a traditional playmaker or creative midfielder. A predominant playing style within the South American country, Mmm, Luke Murphyesque again ......

I do know of Herr Schweinsteiger, and a wonderful player he was (not sure about his career with MLS, rather less illustrious/significant!)

Obviously I also know about Luke Murphy, and if he can emulate Bastian, wouldn't that be wonderful. Thing is, 3-3-1-3 requires more than one player of significantly higher quality than we have at present, not sure we have any other candidates?

Also, as Billy ponders, do ANY of our squad have the grey matter to grasp the formation and its implications, (given the rarity of successful implementation).

And that's the point. What has Bielsa seen in our present squad that gives him the confidence to up sticks and head to the Championship. He's watched every minute of every game, so he's seen it all...the rare good, the consistent bad, and the embarrassing ugly (although Wiedwald had gone now). The guy has been studying players for decades...he's built his reputation on it, so what has he seen?

Well MrsO, anything is possible. With his unique approach, Bielsa will probably take us by complete surprise. He likes to redefine players; playing them out of position (strikers as enganche; midfielders as ball playing centre-backs/wing-backs). So Murphy, or Klich, or others might well find themselves 'reborn'!

He's seen Eunan O Kane and realized that in those twinkle-toed feet he has all the answers he'll ever need.

All he needs to work out now is what the question was.

If anyone passes an objective rule over the 1st team squad, they can't conclude that more than 4 - 5 players have what is required to perform in a 3-3-1-3 formation (being optimistic).

We won't see another influx of new players like last season with over 20 new arrivals.

    Conclusion? 3-3-1-3 won't/can't happen.

Didn't TC describe him as 'his Alonzo'

Hiya Flinty ............... judging by Angus Kinnears latest comments it appears Bielsa is looking forward to working with our ensemble and as we all suspected will use his 'admirers' to provide us with something that bit extra too.

    Kinnear tells Phil Hay ..............................
Tottenham chief Mauricio Pochettino worked under Bielsa several times during his playing career, including for Argentina’s national team, and Leeds have been linked with Spurs’ young Argentinian centre-back Juan Foyth. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is also a firm admirer of Bielsa’s and United’s chief has other connections at Arsenal. Kinnear said: “For us, the tangible element of that is going to be the type of conversations we can have with transfer targets and other clubs – players, and managers who are going to want their players to learn under Marcelo.”

Now I'm not a fan of 'loanees' generally but the calibre of loan targets we may be able to secure this year could be interesting if they can be used with the smattering of young talent that we have coming through - not all the kids we have but definitely a handful have shown enough (for me anyway last season) when opportunities arose.
It's great to see us linked to genuine strikers too buying wise but whatever ensemble we end up with fielding a consecutive starting eleven may be difficult - so a happy squad is paramount disproportionate wages an all.

Agree. We still may not be able to meet asking prices with some transfers or loan wages, but you'd hope this will at least push us up the pecking order now with regards an expression of interest with those clubs.

Talk of both Foyth and Foden being offered to Leeds.
