1st Team Lineup

Ok, in a few hours we'll know our potential fist competitive game line up, so think ahead to the game hows our 1st team shaping up.

Potentially, were looking at: -

Quite happy with that starting line up and really the focus needs to be who will cover in RB when the Huns come on 05th August.

If we can boost the first team with some of the suggested names, we'll be looking reasonably well.

We do have friendlies ahead of these games, that said, if we were to sign McGeoch, surely that would be a huge indicator for Shinnie to LB

So we've missed out on McGeouch who was certainly our number 1 target this summer so where does that leave us.

Player 2017/18 - Replacement

Nwakali Loan End - CAMPBELL should take this spot
Woodman Loan End - No requirement after Lewis returned to fitness and Rogers signed again
McLean Loan End - It's up for debate whether FORRESTER replaces McLean or Christie but at least one are covered
Christie Loan End - NEEDS REPLACED
Stewart Loan End - NEEDS REPLACED
Ball Loan End - FERGUSON
O'Connor Released - DEVLIN replaces one of AOC or Arnason at centre half
Arnason Released - NEEDS REPLACED
Maynard Released - He must have played less than 10 minutes total after Cosgrove signed so there is an argument he does not need replaced
Harvie Released - You could argue not required especially now we saw DM also using Reynolds occasionally at left back.
Tansey Transfer Listed - Tansey was meant to be Jack's long term replacement so he is therefore replaced by GLEESON

So we are still needing replacements for Christie, Stewart and Arnason yet but have capacity to strengthen optional areas on top of that as Nwakali, Woodman, O'Connor, Maynard and Harvie are not being

We look particularly weak in the following areas:

Cover at centre half - I would favour us signing a first pick as not many players would come back from 15 months out to play 50 games in the following season.

Cover at right back - happy to wing it again as we have done in previous seasons but we know Logan has to serve a three game ban so ideally we can pick up another right sided defender

Cover on the wing - weve lost Christie and Stewart that probably started 20 matches wide between them for us last season so thats quite a hole to fill although we would hope GMS and McGinn both have better seasons.

Striker - We are really counting on May being far far better this season than last. I wouldn't be surprised if DM looks at some of his old targets to come in as first pick (Boyce/Moult).

In conclusion we are still needing more than a few signings as the squad looks weak at this point.

I’d say we need a minimum of 4. Ideally 5 but unlikely.
As I said earlier in thread;
If 4....
- a right sided defender that can cover RB & CB.
- a centre mid
- right wing
- striker (a starting No.9) As you say, a Boyce/Moult type... but would probably mean Rooney going.

And ideally in sooner rather than later.
