I’m not overly fussed as it’s very likely that Germany will play Brazil and Argentina v France in the next round. 2 good games to watch and 2 of the major teams out.
With how things have panned out England can manufacture finishing 2nd in the group and have an ‘easier’ route through the knock out stages potentially facing Mexico in the 1/4 finals rather than the aforementioned Brazil/Germany. Will Southgate n Co be thinking like this? Will Belgium?

The ITV commentator, Sam Matterface ?, was driving me mad with his imaginings of the German newspaper headlines and the making of history as Germany failed to get through instead of observing and reporting on the way the 10 men were reacting. At least Dixon didn't get drawn into that. Poor game management by Sweden, whilst not the better side they continued to play deep and not make use of the extra man. The bearded one didn't do them any favours despite how well groomed Matterfarce thought it was.

He was banging on with comments like 'there hasn't been a result like this since......) and that was 5 mins in to the second half!

Even when down to ten men, I could only see one team winning it. Great freekick from Kroos, but gifted to them by a naive Sweden side. The World Cup will be all the harder to win now that Germany are back in with a shout.
