    Next seasons formation ...........

I'm in no doubt we will start with 3-4-3. It was introduced by TM last season for certain games. Its a formation that will be popular in the Champ (and Prem) next season. And watching the WC every single side who look decent play this same formation. It actually suits our players and style of play.

But this means we will not play 2 centre halves persay. I was a bit miffed we signed Rothwell as it puts Travis down the pecking order. And I don't like that, as we do need to bring through our own players. But to me, its a sign TM see's Travis as maybe a backup RWB to challenge Nyambe.

Travis can play central midfield, right Back and centre half so his flexibility will be favourable
Tony Mowbray recently talked him up so he fits in his plans
Rothwell will be crucial if kept fit a true box to box midfielder is what we have lacked for years.

I find that possibility interesting too, but I think we will need one fast winger to make it properly effective.
I also reckon we need flexibility, so that players are at ease with making a formation-switch in the course of a match.
For example, if we need a more defensive line-up, Bennett and Conway can play wide, with any two from Smallwood, Rothwell, Evans and Travis in the middle, and Dack playing free behind Graham in a 4-4-1-1.
I really believe that football is no longer a case of picking a pattern regardless of the opposition.
This is why I was constantly at odds with some posters on the Telegraph site last season who argued that Mowbray should be playing his "most attacking" team in every match - as if the nature of the other team was not a relevant factor.
