SSouthgate- would make a good politician

After last night’s game, a not too disappointed Gareth Southgate faced the media with the summing up of where his team are right now. Whilst he gave some honest opinions of his team, I can’t help but think that he talked a lot and said nothing. He’s probably got what he wanted ,but if his team fail to advance next Tuesday evening, he will find out what it’s like to be an England manager who has failed. As for his team display last night, not very many of them put their hat in the ring for consideration for the Columbia game. From what I saw ,
not many would make the Clarets first team squad on that showing.Anyone who thinks it will be a formality better think again. I could have scored the chance that Rashford missed, and as for the goalkeeping situation, surely we have someone better than Pickford. He doesn’t give me confidence at all unlike a certain goalkeeper we all know is better.
I think we will win on Tuesday, maybe with a scare or two thrown in. As for progressing any further, that is anyone’s guess.

We are still in it to win it, but on last night's evidence Pickford will in all probability turn out to be the team's Achilles Heel.

After watching Joe Hart lumbering around the penalty area for the last few years, I can't get worried about Pickford, he's miles better. When he starts costing us goals then I'll worry, not until, and he hasn't let one through his legs yet, unlike one keeper who got his chance recently.

The mostly second string given an opportunity to put their case for first team inclusion against mostly second string Belgium absolutely flunked it. TAA got the highest player rating but his delivery of the ball was nowhere near the standard set by Kieran Trippier. Overall a very poor performance but possibly a very good result if we can now sneak through to the semis.

Pickford .. did the modern thing for the goal and went with his "strongest' hand rather than his right which could well have got to the ball.? ... TAA ..I have no idea why he is playing for England I can't see anything that suggests he is worth a place yet at such a young age ,his time might come but it shouldn't be now ?

Most of last night's team cannot be relied upon but I think we all knew that ?

I wonder if the odious Martinez and renowned cheat Henry have given the goalscorer a telling off this morning ..clearly nobody wanted to win that game

"I could have scored the chance that Rashford missed"

to be fair the keeper saved that if you mean the one where he was clean through, he should have done better and 9 times out of 10 he probably would. Last night was nothing more than a practice match and you really can't take anything from it apart from our 2nd string won't win anything and Pickford isn't good enough, he didn't catch anything last night and everything he saved was palmed back into the area right in front of goal which will cost us goals eventually you need safe hands in your goal to win a major tournament.
