I’ve worked a lot on dive salvage for a professional company on the North East coast diving alone and it is very disorientating in very low visibility.
If it’s single file swimming out then it only takes a young lad to panic and lose his demand valve, this would probably be fatal in that situation. Full face mask would be the way to go but even they can be very claustrophobic.

Rescue operation almost four hours in now. Will be done in 48 hours before the next monsoon really hits. Fingers crossed BIG TIME.
I just don't hope that they are having to dive their way out, but if it's the only chance left...
