Why we lose out every single window.

Preparing to buy in the window should begin months and months before money can legally change hands and the player signed.

Prospects need to be identified and lined up so we are only waiting for the window to open to do business and get in quick before we are in a bidding war for the dregs and the remnants which are left for poor pickings.

We all know, at least most of us do, that Ashley won't sanction early buys to save a few bob on an extra few weeks window wages.

It happens window after window. Last minute panic deals and most of to top available payers on Rafa's wish list are long gone or lost because of Ashley's short arms and long pockets.

From what we've learnt though Rafa does give his list in to Charnley in plenty of time.

It's just we don't want to bid anywhere near the sums required for the players.

Rafa gives the list to Charnley, who then goes cap in hand to scrooge who looks at the list and gives him a slap round the ear. Charnley then wets himself, and goes back to Rafa with the bad news,Rafa shrugs his shoulders and thinks well what the f..k, im only here for 1 more season then I can go to a proper football club.Theres no way Ashley would al;low Rafa and the tea boy to spend his money without him having some say, no chance.I cant believe Rafas still here to be honest, unless he knows something?????????

If he won’t give a manager of Rafa’s stature and experience the money to do the job properly we might as well have the manager from Bromley, Eastleigh or wherever.

I wonder why he doesn’t use the same blueprint for SD that he does at NUFC? Ie: he’ll have to pay the whole amount upfront to produce his Lonsdale and Dunlop tat but he doesn’t allow his customers to pay in instalments of £20 a month for a £60 pair of football boots. Why....because it doesn’t make financial sense and will affect SD’s opportunity to grow.

Rafa is a manager with the highest integrity and he will honour his contract and say thanks but no thanks at the end of this season

We will get someone else in and so the merry go round continues. Ashley is not interested and is not bothered as long as we stay in the Premiership.

It’s going to be another hard slog this season though

Who are we losing out on?

We supposedly lose out every window but we never get to find out who we lost out on in 99% of occasions, just that people keep saying we've lost out.

The season Rafa bought Joselu, we'd apparently lost out on 4 targets because apparently he was our 5th choice...and yet nobody seems to know who the first, second, third and fourth choices were that Rafa apparently got handcuffed away from.

How about we don't get signings in because we don't ship out players who should be shipped out, to leave squad places and yet are kept to fester or shipped out at the last minute, leaving little time to replace.

Whose fault is this?....Because it isn't all Ashley's.

It's not as simple as that because of agents. If you were representing a player would you sign off his deal at the start of the window or wait till near the end in case a better offer came in? Sure, Barcelona, Man U etc get players early but that is because the player has said he really wants to go there - never the case with us since the Entertainers days.

Most clubs operate like us in the transfer windows tbh - outside the top 6.

Of course many other factors other than the selection of a player and the money transaction are concerned but why is that more mediocre clubs from the bracket that we have been allowed to decend to or rather dragged down to by Ashley can do business briskly and efficiently, buy in decent prospects, build up a good pre season squad in time for the new season and give their manager a fighting chance to show the fans what they want.

WE HAVE AN INTELLIGENT, SUCCESSFUL, AMBITIOUS MANAGER WE SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE AN AMBITIOUS, INTELLEGENT OWNER.

Hardly naive. Call it more like not getting into a frenzy over signings or apparent lack of them.
