Thread: Promotion?

Why not have the Irn Bru cup in place of the Bet Fred if they need to start the competitive side of the season at thus time.?

If they don't change it, clubs will just have to start preseason even earlier in order to be ready to compete. Not use them as getting players up to match fitness and shortchanging the paying public to watch what appeared to be no more than a training game..

A few bad losers on here trying to deny that United were beat in the opening League Cup match - what is the point of denying that Arbroath won and outplayed United ?

Also, a few peeps trying to claim this was a pre season friendly to make the result look less important than it was - again, this was no friendly, this was a League Cup match and Arbroath deserved their victory.

In season 1980 -81 United won the League Cup - never heard anyone back then say it was a pre season friendly tournament.

Arbroath are a really good team, they will be favourites to win their league and a few Premier League teams would struggle to beat them - thats the truth of the matter.

Lets hope we get back on track tomorrow night - there is good money to be made for United if they can reach the late stages of the League Cup.

How about because Arbroath never outplayed United.

Very true ttt, bizarre observation that

Arbroath aren't bad, were in the playoffs last season for promotion to our division, narrowly lost to Dumbarton by a goal over the tie, were good on the road in general winning at Ayr and Raith etc

However with an that said, an unacceptable home result, despite Madden's assistance

So laszlo put them through a DOUBLE training session on Friday before game.

Is he a complete asshole? what is the conditioning coach thinking? Regardless of lethargy injury risk is significant.

Really - he needs a kicking.

With all due to respect to you shedka and to where we clearly are - i am still not prepared to accept that as a reason - Arbroaths previous heroics nor the ref. I used to support a proud team ffs!

I will accept we or our manager ****ed it up. Onwards and see about for tomorrow. Anyone going btw? In this weather a few days up there would have been phucking brilliant!!
