I doubt any of the League Cup matches will be well attended. Unsure if the League attendances will improve on last season either...
Around 800 for the Queens v Stranraer is very poor indeed and it seems the Cleyholers showed no interest.

Plenty of people on holiday and if you look at the other games yesterday you’ll see most others were poorly attended
but yet people shout for summer football
First of all I'm going to substitute the name Summer Football for Better Weather Football. Taking in mind that most peoples summer holidays are only between 1 to 2 weeks, do people seriously think BWF would not bring in bigger crowds overall. Two months ago I read about BWF in the ROI and crowds and performance in Europe by their domestic teams has risen since they started playing Feb- Oct rather than through the winter months . Its been such a success that the Northern Ireland Football Association are seriously looking at doing the same thing .---- I want to take you back to the last home league game of the season for a minute. I walked into Palmerston that day and instantly felt a buzz around the ground . Why was this you ask ? Simply , that the sun was beating from the sky that day after months of dreadful weather and the tee shirt clad fans felt better about themselves. This season will follow the same predictable path with a lot of folk not venturing near the ground from Nov - Feb and crowds very low. The definition of an idiot could be that he keeps doing the same things over and over again that dont work . This is where we are at in Scottish Football.

Brilliant, brilliant post JR!
The argument about summer football:
No one is asking for mid-summer football, - yet this is exactly what the authorities inflict upon us and then we (quite righty) argue that no -one's interested in attending! That's because they're on holiday, at the beach with the kids, playing golf etc etc.
No what we (the poor football punters) are asking for is simply an extension of the season - say to include the whole of May, - so we can go along and watch a mid week match in short sleeves, rather than as JR suggests freezing our elbows off in the middle of winter!
A little bit of the old common sense could see us re-arrange the season to make the most of the weather and avoid the silly season of July and early August.
Why does BBC put Strictly Come Dancing on at the very end of the summer? - because the nights are suddenly drawing in and people are looking for entertainment. Equally we need to be a bit smarter about when we have our games, - and certainly expecting people to turn out in atrocious weather for a rearranged mid-week game in the depths of winter is complete insanity.
That last match of the season was absolutely brilliant on so many levels; - the commitment of the players, - the weather and the relaxed nature of the fans..........and I would have been delighted with another month of that - thanks very much.
So we're not asking for mid summer football when everyone is on holiday, - but rather playing when the weather gets warmer.
As JR suggests, - only a complete idiot would design a season to start when the vast majority of people were on holiday, and extend it through the worst of the winter, - only to stop it abruptly just as the weather improves!
the only flaw in that ending the season at end of may is during the offseason which would prob be june july ,we have all the early rounds of europe ,and that is always catching the scottish clubs out as it takes a good compeditive month of playing before there up to speed ,whats needed is the football season to start at least a month before a ball is kicked for the early euro rounds ,i would then expect most or all the scottish clubs to progress further in these compititions so i think we need to start our season around end of may giving them a whole month of league football before the first rounds come apon us in mid july .
But the football season isnt in the summer so of course they will be on holiday. If the season changed some may work around it and as was mentioned not many people go away for a lengthy time.
We seem to have attitudes in scottish football where we are stuck in our way and appear to be terrified of innovation. We need to sort something out.
