Newcastle broke even or rather made an operating profit of £3m In 2015/16; as you can see from the Deloitte report, Newcastle were ranked the 17th and among the top 20 clubs in the money league. Note that the report does not include palyer sales.

    Newcastle earned:
    Match day: £27m
    Commercial: £25m
    Broadcasting: £77
    Total: £129m

During this season Newcastle broke even but then got relagated hampering our broadcasting revenue making a loss of about £50m which was cooked to look like it's was around £90m

Newcastles operational costs were around £50m and player wages around £80m.

So from the above, Newcastle are in the negatives of about £50m due to relagation.

Now let's look at Newcastles revenue last season estimating petty much the same except for broadcasting even though we have a better sponsorship deal and higher match day attendance from championship.

    Match day: £27m
    Commercial: £25m
    Broadcasting plus prize: £123
    Total revenue: £175m minimum

Assuming Rafa reduced the wage bill tremendously getting rid of players last season we should have still an expenditure of £125m approx giving the club a profit of £50m approx which would cover last seasons relagtion losses.

So In essence, Rafa has to wheel and deal this season although there should be some revenue coming in from the sissoko and widjnaldum deals.

Great explanation, thanks for that. Annoying that relagation could've been avoided in the first place but for an idiotic managerial appointment in McClaren, especially as we dodged a bullet under Carver the previous season.

The McClaren mistake was compounded by not sacking him at Xmas even though it was clear what was going to happen

Cheers zip, we can only try to piece together from the available info which comes from nufc account reports, money from broadcasting and Deloitte who are very reliable. I still think Ashley is somehow cooking the books and servicing his debt in the black.

Newcastles revenue from last season will no doubtedly be among the top 10 clubs again and potentially the club should be earning more than £200m. The club should be making much more from sponsorship and sports direct should be paying for that free advertisement.

Ashley is a really thick businessman to be honest. Looked at Juve, they have bought Ronaldo and the amount of social media response they've got in terms of gaining fans; likes and followings on twiiter, Facebook, instagram etc has turned up several millions and that's already a huge revenue generation. Already paying some of the money back.

Ashley has failed to sell nufc to the world, a couple of marquee signings can generate so much commercial income through merchandise sales and social media revenue generation.

Anyhow, does anyone have a contact for a Hitman?

At the end of it all, it's Ashley's incompetence of hiring a useless manager in McClaren. Simple decisions could have saved the club so much money but hey the saying goes "cheap is expensive" and Ashley is still one hell of a thick businessman.

Even if they'd ditched him before the jolly to Spain or wherever it was for the training camp it may have made a difference with a couple of extra games to play with 😠😠😠

Well this year the transfer window closes before the season starts. We have the perfect opportunity as fans to do something v Spurs on TV but the likes of the fanzines et al are so feckn soft they do feck all to get something sorted. The local rags are twisted around his finger because if they say anything they’ll be barred from SJP by the feckn big baby. Going in on mass on 11 mins would make a point ie 11 years of shyte, but nowt like that would happen.
How the feck did Rangers get rid so quickly, because their fans wouldnt stand for his goings on. Our fans are soft shyte’s now and I include myself in that. Fans are a different breed now, remember in the past fans have forced the likes of Mckeag out.
Aye the new strips look nice - don’t buy the fecker your giving SD more money. But over the coming weeks therell be bleeding thousands and thousands bought. People still buy drinks and food in the ground don’t do it, but people do/will. Aye it’s relatively small fry but it’ll make a point.
The bloke is ripping the p1ss year after year but this one seems worse than the rest with the manager we have, the finances amassed and the bullsh1t the club spins about debt. Feck Ashley, Feck Charnley and the other fecker that Ashley has put in place to say no to almost everything.

That's right. I was listening to a broascast on it and they stated that although he cost £100 million Juve have already recouped £80 million of that through sponsorship deals, shirt sales and various other business angles.

The NERD who owns our club is centuries behind as far a business acumen is concerned.
