    Dumfries unfortunately is no different to many other towns in the uk Carlisle to be honest isn’t much better considering it is twice the population of Dumfries. Planning permission for out of town shopping in the last couple of decades was the start of the decline.A change in shopping culture out of town retail parks and more so online shopping has killled our town centre.Setting up groups to counter act this should have been done a long time ago too little too late I think.

    Not a town centre development but I see the main front page story in the Standard is of a development at the old ICI site at
    Cargenbridge where Billy Hewitson and others hope to bring new life to the former industrial site with a £4 million plan.
