Thread: Aberdeen v Burnley Official Match Thread

Hearts have had decent results away to Spurs and Liverpool as I remember, albeit they still went out to them.

Will probably end up getting turned over down there but if the prospect of putting out a mega rich EPL side isnt getting people excited then little will.

When we were getting the ball, it was long balls.
    Not his game
I’d say to get the best out of him, we’d need to play him just off Cosgrove.
His best days were just off McLean at St Hohnstone.
Rarely will we play that formation.
Spot on RST, let Cosgrove win the high balls in the box, feed knockdowns to May who will finish them off at a decent rate.

Print it out and highlight the last two sentences.
Up on the changing room wall next week.
Let’s hope we can spring a Groningen / Rijeka’ish performance and win.
    1-0 will do me

You and Alastair Campbell have quite a bit in common...definitely a pair of spin doctors.

That article by Campbell is indeed a good read. Bearing in mind he is a dyed in the wool claret it is very respectful of us. You can tell, reading between the lines, that he is not at all confident about next week.

We can do it. Remember that Burnley have not taken in any new players yet - ie they are a settled side who have played together often. Contrast that with us. 4 new faces, with the others, who until last night have never played in a competitive game before and we are able to put in a display like that? It can only get better and if we set our mind to it (and play Shinnie at left back) we can win the tie.

If any professional footballer needs such “motivation”, they should **** off and do something else.

Read Alfie Kohn’s research-based books on extrinsic and intrinsic motivation and you’ll quickly become convinced that this sort of bollix is 100% sporting myth bollix.

Surely can’t harm as a last minute reminder that they anticipate and expect to go through.
There certainly seemed plenty motivation in the Aberdeen, not to be intimidated.
More of the same next week I say
