I especially liked how he avoided signing 65m rated maguire and Robertson now at Liverpool when we monitored, watched and then choked when mighty hell city paid 2.5m for maguire.

Another masterstroke was how we dodged another bullet when antonio thought he was joining us but the shammers stepped in to save us the embarrassing prospect of signing a future England international for 5m.

Demari Gray,Redmond,Butland.....just three players we could’ve nicked from a cash strapped Blues.

We’ve missed so many open goals with young players who have obvious talent and future saleability.

We should’ve tried the Chelsea trick on a lower scale,spending money on League One and Two starlets and loaning then our to other clubs whilst we were in the Premier.

Ashworth could spot value in a mature player like Yacob but his record with youngsters was absolutely dire.

We even manage to ruin our own quality youngsters such Thorne and Leko and there’s every chance we’ll do the same with Sam Field.

We have been a barren field for our own youngsters other than Statham,Robson and Carlton Palmer for the best part of 46 years I’ve been attending.
