I enclose photographs of Dunaverty Golf Course including the burn and green at the 17th hole. http://www.dunavertygolfclub.com/gallery/index.htm
The well known Scottish lady amateur golfer Mrs Belle Robertson (nee McCorkindale) learnt to play her golf as a youngster on Dunaverty Golf Course and from memory she is an honorary member of Dunaverty Golf Club.

I have never heard it called a stinger. That must be an American term.
Golfers used to shut the face on a golf club to hit the ball low into the wind.
Now with the popularity of rescue golf clubs made famous by Todd Hamilton who won the Open Championship from memory in 2004 at Royal St George’s at Sandwich Kent golfers use them to hit the ball low into the wind.

Only 1 birdie today at the 2nd.
Did you have time to visit the Muneroy tearoom in Southend for some delicious home baking before heading back to Machrihanish

    No I didnae.

The club didnae have a bar so it was back to a place that did.

Played Panmure for 1st time today Islay and v v close to hole in one at 5th....3 inches or so.

    Have you played?

Must be one of the few places that still have a ladies entrance....didnae notice the butler and servants entrance.

Trying to persuade some of my golfing acquaintances to head back to macrihanish next year instead of Spain. 50/50 split at the minute so might end up Spain.

Hate airports with a passion though.
