I take the point that the current squad is not our "final" squad (we hope!). After seeing Mansfield friendly game, more worried about midfield than left back. At least we've got two specialist left backs on the books, and Mattock scored a spectacular goal at Brentford a few seasons ago - let's hope for a repeat from him on Saturday

And here’s the think and I apologise to frog and cam for my language.

It was all a lot of **** talk from people who didn’t want to wait until they saw them play a league game to slag the club off. I won’t name names

Not saying your doing that but how do we know we haven’t improved when we haven’t seen them play 90 mins?
Sorry but I don’t see how anyone can judge a squad before seeing them play a game it makes no sense.

Also like you say ackworth we could still be signing some more players.
Yes I take your point silly you cannot make a full judgement on new players until you have seen them play a few games. Sorry if you misunderstand me, I am definitely not trying to put Warney or the squad down, I really want us to make a success of it this time in the championship. I was simply posing a question. Hopefully a couple more bodies through the door in the right positions. UTM.

Fair enough, I get what you are saying mellow. I just hope the Central midfielder(s) we get in are good quality and can compete with Palmer and Vaulks. However it would be great if Ben Wiles was given the opportunity in the league and did well, but i think even if he did get some minutes over the course of the season we still need one more CM. I still think we need something more up front. We will have to see.

I guess you're kind of helping to make my point Ackworth.
We know some areas of the team still need strengthening and we also know that Paul Warne is trying to address those problems.
I just want to wait until recruitment is finished before attempting to compare the two squads.
Warne says he has number1 targets in his mind but it's beginning to look as though some of them may not be available and he may have to look elsewhere. We can only hope the alternatives are as good as his first choice targets.
    Interesting times 😊

And your assessment on proctor is based on what?

    League one striker at best.

I have no assessment of proctor since he’s missed most of last season.

    That’s the whole point

I hope proctor does come good, but can’t see it.

    League one at best.

Even Bolton got shut fairly quickly when promoted and there a bang average/poor side these days.

People pinning there hopes on proctor is stupid, he’s done nothing of note. But hopefully if ever fully fit he will be a nice fit for us.

However, I believe Vyner will have a lot off work to do to prove he is up to the standard of Josh Emmanuel who in my opinion is a great modern full back who will go far. Left back you could say we are weaker having lost Purrington and with no other out and out left backs on the books. At present no Towell and only 2 central mods whereas we had Potter and Towell at the start of last season in addition to what we have now.

The wingers are the same as last season. Strikers: We had Keiffer up until January and then Lavery on loan as well as JCH and our current strikers. Now we have Vassell- league 1 player last season

Therefore, my overall assessment is the squad is no stronger than it was last season, if I am kind I'll say its about the same strength. Should our recruitment so far have been better? We have spent nothing so far have we. Hopefully we will get a permanent CM in and another striker in a permanent deal. Then I would be fairly satisfied but so far I would say we have not really strengthened enough.
If me and frog are the two central mods then we'll be OK. We'll just ban the opposition or close/delete their posts and I can see a Millwall like 6-0 win coming up on Saturday
