To be fair to RUFC I don't recall them ever saying they were going to sign Maris so perhaps they don't really need to say the deal is off

It's social media and the press who've done that probably from leaks at the Cambs end.
As I've mentioned above I don't believe RUFC have said anything about Maris so they can't be blamed for alerting other clubs
