Motherwell take on Hibs for the league opener

Motherwell will kick off their league campaign with a trip to Easter Road on Sunday. The first priority is to secure top level status but beyond that some are talking of targeting the top half of the table. - External Link

Without Campbell we have no midfield and against a side capable of playing through sides at pace and that have plenty of goals in them then we are going to get an absolute pasting here. If we play anything like we did against Clyde then Hibs will take at least four off us.

Hopefully Hibees will feel some after-effects following their efforts in Europe Thursday night. That said, a big step up needed from our boys. A scrappy 1-1 will do nicely.

Hibs are better than us and will certainly finish above us so an away point would be a very welcome start to the season.

However, as we saw last season (and were on the wrong side of ourselves for a few years recently), there's a big difference between being better than someone over 38 games and being better over 90 minutes...they've just put in a big shift in Greece, will have one eye on Molde and have shown plenty of defensive issues themselves. It will also suit us that, unlike in the LC group, we don't have to make the game and can let them make the running.

If we play to our best, I actually think we'll get our draw...whether we do so or not is hard to predict though.
