    Brentford Post Match Thoughts

It's less than 7 miles from Wembley to Brentford but at the moment it feels more like a million miles. All the pundits said we would struggle, we knew we would struggle but as always on a sunny August day the season starts with optimism and excitement of what's to come. If anyone didn't know the answer to that, they do now. In itself it's one game out of 46 and the result doesn't really matter, what matters is what we learn from it and do we have the resources to do anything about it?

    Thoughts?

PS If anyone on here was in the pub at Brentford and a hammered man in a Millers shirt came up and 'exposed' himself please let me know.

Brentford have a strong outside chance of promotion according to some pundits so they were playing one of the better teams.

Afraid with the budget Warney has it’s gonna be a struggle.

Currently trying to sign a League 2 midfielder so you've got that right.

To be fair it was a very weak team Warney played out of loyalty to his players. Think Warney probably knew this but just wanted to get it out of his system. They had a chance and blew it. Think Warney has miscalculated how bad we would be though. I don't see why he should give em another chance. I think that now is the time to start the season properly ie get his signings in plus 2 or 3 more next week.

Some players are not really fit for this league eg Taylor, Palmer, Wood (sadly) aprt from bit parts. Players like Vyner are rookies and are going to take time to settle but hopefully not too long. Emmanuel took a while last season.

Our best hope is that our home form will be decent starting next week. If we can beat Ipswich we will be half way up the table and things will look a bit better.

Yes - a League One budget in the strongest Championship league will be a perpetual struggle - might as well get used to this outcome unless...

At least the other results went our way and we are only one point off a playoff place if we can improve our goal difference

He got it wrong today big style.
    Long balls didn’t work.
    Taylor didn’t defend.
Vaulks cant pass a simple ball he has to go long which didn’t work.
Too many not up to it.

Change it next week or it’s same again.

Just in pub Brentford fans are saying we’re the worst side that they have ever seen in the championship.
Warne has to take responsibility and learn quickly.

Brentford finished just outside the play offs last season and are expected to do better this time. They play good passing football and have recruited well to strengthen their team.
So surely no one can be surprised that we lost this game although admittedly the scoreline is very disappointing and there clearly needs to be a rethink on team selection.
We have a chance to redeem things next week at home against Ipswich and it's important that the team put in a battling performance. Anything else and the alarm bells will really start to ring.
Too early to get despondent yet though.
