Saturday’s victory over Oxford United was only the 4th opening day win for The Reds since the turn of the century, with their previous three over Colchester United (2003), Swindon Town (2005) and Middlesbrough (2012) all also coming at Oakwell

Prior to 2018/19, the last time The Reds won their opening two games of a league campaign and kept clean sheets was in 1976/77, with victories over Brentford (1-0) and Newport County (2-0) in the Fourth Division.

And the Bbc didn't think it was good enough to include as a Goal of the month contender.

The Reds faced Oxford United at Oakwell on August 4th in the 2018/19 season opener. The fixture was last played 20 years prior with The Reds notching their first win of the 1998/99 season thanks to a solitary goal from player/manager John Hendrie.
I remember that was the August '98 bank holiday Monday game, and Oxford were managed by Mal Shotton and they were one of the dirtiest teams Ive ever seen at Oakwell. He/Shotton really disappointed me by having them fired up in such a way that day, obviously trying to make an impression on his former team.

Victor Adeboyejo is the first player to score in each of his first 2 appearances for The Reds since Jason Scotland scored in his first 3 (all as a substitute) in 2013
