Strange no green and a back 5 with wing backs.

    96 points to go

Great result. Keep it up! Didn't see any of the game. Please can some well informed Villan give a match report? Alan Hutton is now officially a legend of the club. Bombed out. Back in. Makes name as a left back. Never gives up. Could have gone to any number of clubs several times. Good lad

Hi Sam always liked him and said it many times on here!
Well what you to remember is we were away and the last 2 seasons we would have played fir the draw. Tonight we went for it and it worked, now lets build on it.
As for the game, very shaky at the back, Hull a tad unlucky or just bad finishing.
Whelan was strong, Grealish was good and well, looked like he is on his way
Standing ovation for him when he came off.
Koj off the pace but had no quality service, green came on and looked lively. Adomah defended well but little going forward but the star of tge show was Hutton, solid defending probing runs full of energy and what a goal by the scottish Cafu, took a yellow for celebrating with the villa fans.
All round, good game not brill buy i will take those 3 points

Thought Jacks mannerisms and body language told a goodbye story Great to start with a win.

Well the reality is that we get 30 million and vertually out of the clause of FFP. Pity levy could not agree sooner ss we could have brought a couple more!

Hull are considered a very poor side and they matched us pretty well at 1-1, too much hoofball and we set up to play with width! Mistake led to our 2nd and a very cool finish from Elmo, Jed made some good saves & Elphick did a good job in creating some space for the equaliser.

Hutton - absolute warrior of a man, hope we don't wait so long for his next goal! Can't help wondering how he would have fared trying his hand when he made so many forays down the right in the PL.

Kodja is a frustrating player, he doesn't work hard enough for the team and needs to mix his game up by coming a bit deeper when he's drifted in a game. He cost a lot of money and needs to prove his worth for 90mins, he competed well at the start then faded.

Hourihane & Whelan worked their socks off, Jack delivered a great corner for the first and looked classy on the ball - he's off in the next few days if all is to be believed and good luck to him, deserves his shot at the big time. Really worried about who comes into that position to provide the killer pass, out wide Adomah doesn't look like he can beat an egg.

Overall - 3 defenders scored our goals, we drew this fixture last year, midfield and defence did not link up leading to a direct style of play and we need to be much more solid & cohesive to feature for the promotion spots.

We're going to seriously miss snoddys assists and goals this season. A better side would have punished us. However the win should lift the side and breed a bit of confidence.
If Bruce is going to play hoof ball let's put Davis up front with Kodja. That's what makes me think a bid to bring back benteke would suit the way we play as Davis scores less than Heskey.
