    Carlisle United(away)predictions league cup

Tony will put out a 3rd choice team in order to keep us focused on the league so in all honesty I can see us going out
    2-1 loss

We'll play academy players in a game we clearly don't care about.. They'll pick up on that and perform sub par.. Likely meaning we are beaten and go out.. Some folk will then assume our academy players aren't good enough.. Totally unfair..

2-0 to Rovers. This is even more guesswork than usual!
A good match to see all the fringe players, such as Nuttall, Davenport, Downing, Leutwiler, Caddis - as well as a sprinkling of youngsters.

3-2 to Carlisle by the way.. Scoreline sounds exciting, but quality will be pretty low, as it generally is in the early rounds of this cup.

    0-2 Rovers.
I would like to see a reasonably strong team with a few of the Under 23 squad mixed in. I would like to see what Butterworth can do. But not with another bunch of kids (like Saxo correctly says) as that way we would not learn anything.
The likes of Rothwell, Davenport, Palmer etc need games. Play them!!

Just read that Davenport is out for at least a month, unfortunately. This would have been the perfect opportunity to see him in action.
Interesting that TM is still speaking positively about Ben Gladwin. Does this mean he will stay long-term? Obviously, he couldn't be transferred at the moment, because of the injury, but I wonder if he is still in Mowbray's plans.
Good performance by the Under-23s in their first game at the higher level. Our oldest player was 20!

If gladwin finds his early potential then he could easily be the winger we were looking for.
Very often he would come on and look lazy and uninterested,on top of his constant injury problems.
He could still have a future but the effort needs to be applied.
Going on to that academy the future is very bright at the moment
    Raya
    Nyambe
    Lenihan
    Travis
All are in the first team picture all produced in our academy.
We have several others who are literally 1 maybe 2 seasons away from breaking through as well.
Light came through the clouds last season,we might just start to see the sunlight soon.

I'm struggling to scroll through the memory banks to find a worse footballer I've seen with my own 2 eyes. Plus his injury record is truly woeful. I dislike singling outvplayers, but he is shocking. And I've seem my fair share over the years.

I honestly don't think he can be that bad, Champs. He was very popular and successful at Swindon, and when he moved to QPR, a couple of PL clubs were also interested.
The injuries are another matter, of course, but I will be interested to see what happens. From his point of view, he might do well to move, because we all know that, although it just doesn't happen for a player at a particular club, following a transfer, luck and form swing the other way again.
This might be true for Whittingham too.

Whitringham was very stop start last season, with injuries. Due to him not impressing when he did play, he failed to force himself into the side when he was back. He's ageing aswell. I liked him, thought he was a good player.
I can only comment on what is in front of me 're Gladwin. I hope he proves me wrong. He'd have to get himself fit for a start. Something he's failed to do since arriving. I just think it's a waste of a wage. I've seen nothing from him that would change that.
