Risking the teams survival in this league on the hope that the clubs concerned will let a player come to us or that the players concerned will still want to come to us if other offers come in for them is a mugs game and shows just how naive we are with recruitment.

Not sure who is to blame for our transfer policy right now but whoever it is they should have had a settled squad in before the season started.

Agree entirely. We're playing in what most people recognise as the fifth most competitive league in European football, and we're doing so on a wing and a prayer. It makes a mockery of the lessons learned mantra.

The line about the Ipswich victory buying us extra time simply makes me angry.

The team spirit and good human beings spiel will quickly evaporate on the back of several real away thumpings. You watch how players start to hide behind injuries etc come the Autumn.

Decent players - the type that we want - will attract interest from a number of clubs, so the number of parties is increased. Every party will be working to their own agenda and speed - it's more akin to buying a house in a chain than buying a newspaper.

I respect all that you are saying,but if Paul Warne knows these two players,are going to benefit the squad,surley we should push the boat out and get them in,Warney obviously knows he wants these two players,so he should be given the green light to go out and get them in,he as said,these two players are his dream two,that should be enough surely.

It may well be that he has been given the green light, but that doesn't make it any less complicated. The parent club, the player and his agent will all have their own positions and views on the prospective deal.

Every club, from top of the "PremierSh*t" to bottom of "Division 4" (and beyond) faces the same problems though. We seem to deal with them worse than most . I think that's why some Millersmadsters get upset.

Rotherham may have added difficulties in the player market as it is, on any analysis, not one of the most desirable places in the country to live or work.

This type of "I know best" response amuses me.
The recruitment process is what it is and presumably the people involved have known about it from the outset. If not, where have they been?
As I understand it, the limitations and flexibility within the budget are clearly understood by the recruitment team, if not they certainly should be. Paul Warne has said he's asked to increase offers for players in the past and "has always been backed by the chairman."
If the manager feels the two loan players on his priority list are essential to give the club a fighting chance of staying up, the deals should be done smoothly and without delay.
Other clubs seem to manage without problems but we always seem to be behind the door. Hopefully this amateurish approach won't come back to bite us.
