    Last night's performance.

Although it was only a 1-0 victory, it was very comfortable. I was impressed with all the youngsters on view and there was a zip and eagerness about them. Harper looks comfortable in the midfield role, Edwards played with confidence and some adept touches, Townsend was accomplished and assured at left back, Lecko, when he came on, showed flashes of what excited us in the past and Field looked completely at home in the centre of defence. He and Dawson could be an excellent pairing. Burke has got pace to burn and could be a more than useful front man. All in all, a most encouraging evening.

Such a pity that we have a manager who seems unlikely to trust these lads.

Moore strikes me as the type of “safety first” manager like Pulis who will die wondering.

I often wonder if managers think back to when they were young and eager and were held back by some prehistoric manager.

I didn't go on Tuesday night but a couple of pals did and they said similar stuff.

The kids at the club are exciting, hopefully they can force their way in.

I think Moore will integrate them over time and give them their chance, this is a positive to promoting a former youth manager to first team manager. He'll know all the youth players and their strengths and weaknesses.

I know we need some legs in the middle, so don't see why Harper or Field can't put pressure on those starting positions. Especially Field, he should be in the 1st XI every week in my book.

The only problem with talented kids is their age and total lack of awareness at times plus a self serving attitude in front of goal. I am sure some will shine and get through. Oh and they often get easily pushed off the ball, need to bulk up sometimes. Anyway we all know this if youve been around a few decades.
