There is one flaw in that answer. You make it sound like NFFC want to sell?

He's 19, and part of a squad. Considering Murphy is about to be put down, he will play a part this season. Karanka has said so.
He has made sure he has a hard core squad of 25 players, vying for the same shirts.

No one is leaving NFFC unless it suits the club. We have had 2 years of hard austerity, now have cash as well as a new owner.
There is money there for another loan if he asks for it and the transfer market come January.
Carvalho was a permanent at £13M
Goncalves is a season loan, with a buy option of £12 M at the season end.

In essence, if you are serious about Brereton he is going to cost double what you have bid. That's even if he wants to leave of course.

Our Owners are billionaires. And if we fancy this lad, then we will pay what we need to get him. If that's what the manager wants.
The only way he isn't coming, is if we believe they are asking silly money (like paying £13.6m for a nobody).
We don't do stupid business's at our club since the manager came in, and the billionaires do what he asks for. Including buying this kid, if we think it's worth the investment. If he is good enough for us. Is he what we need. If any of that is an issue, or you ask silly money, we will get someone else. Or we come back in Jan if we like him. Simple as that.

I wasn't referring to Mowbray, Champs. I haven't suggested he has told lies. I was talking about Forest. If we offered (as the reports say) 6M on deadline-day, why are they considering the same offer now, when they turned it down flat, then?

Football deals work like this. You offer. If thats turned down, and if you still want him, you return with a higher offer. Every time we have gone back, it's with an improved offer. Most deals are originally turned down. You then go back with a better one.

I know you don't like Mowbray to be questioned, but would you pay 8M for a relatively inexperienced 19-year-old? The market has gone mad.
