Tomori giving away a 7th minute free kick and then losing his man who backheeled it in. Obviously Frank's fault......... not.
Tomori diverting a shot going miles wide....... again Frank's fault..... not.
Nicked from a lad I grew up with. Full of common sense he is.
For all those people calling for Lampard's head after just 3 games, learn a lesson from the past. When Jim Smith arrived at the Baseball Ground with Schteeve McClaren in 1995, I watched one of the worst games of my life, a dull, insipid 0-0 home draw against Port Vale in front of about 10000 fans. The second game wasn't much better, neither was the third & so on. Fans were calling for JS to go & the sooner the better & don't forget, he was a manager with tons of experience.
In that season, Smith & McClaren brought in Dean Yates, Daryl Powell, Ronnie Willams, Russell Hoult, Sean Flynn, Chris Boden, Paul Trollope, Matt Carbon, Snakey Rowett, Robin van der Laan and some bloke called Igor Stimac. Whilst Igor was the catalyst for that side, a side that got dicked 5-1 at Tranmere in Igor's first match, that team then started to gel and the most obvious comparison between that team & Frank's team is the numbers of personnel in.
It will take time, no doubt some more bad results, but when they click and they will, we will be back to form. I doubt we will be promoted this year, but when Frank has his team playing his way & they know what they are doing, we will be a force to be reckoned with. It takes time, not a managerial merry-go-round. Now, I wonder what happened to that 1995 side?
Spot on MA. Much of our business was done late too so there are players who due to being in the shop window weren't risked in pre season by the selling team so fitness needs working on.
Davies will sure up the defence and a fit Huddlestone will help in terms of passing/possession and assisting younger players.
Only Leeds have a 100% record so the rest taking points from each other. This is likely to be a pattern this season so a half decent run could catapult anyone in to contention at any given time.
Usual conclusion jumping by way too many.......
It reminds me of a trip I made to the USA. I came back, safe in the knowledge that the indigenous people of the USA walk in single file........ at least the one I saw did........
Only a certain type of idiot would call for a managers head after three matches
Get a few quid on Ips*it doing us tomorrow at 4/1
No doubt Lampy will go with his usual 1-2-1-6 formation and we concede inside 10 minutes against the god awful Ips*it attack
Can't wait to see the full backs, sorry I mean 4 wingers, we don't bother with full backs, and keogh doing his usual run 42 yards, turn around and leg it back to his own goal
I don't disagree but perhaps there's 1 fundamental flaw in this comparison. Jim Smith was an experienced manager and extremely good at small and middle clubs. And McClaren we all know, despite not really cutting it as a manager, is an exceptionally good coach.
Frank Lampard is neither of these, not because he's failed before, but because he's in 1st job. I think a Jim Smith type of manager now at Derby can perhaps do all these things, given time. But the jury is still out whether a rookie can do the same.
I'm not saying it can't be done, but it'll be a huge surprise if it does follow suit.
I think the safer option is to wait to late October through early December. By that time, I think most will be able to tell whether the experiment will work, or whether it's better to cut your losses and appoint a Jim Smith type to finish the job or worse case, mount a rescue.
