Motherwell given a Tynecastle trip in the Betfred quarters

Motherwell have been handed a Betfred quarter final tie against Hearts at Tynecastle. It's a chance to knock the Edinburgh side out of a cup competition for the second year in a row. - External Link

Can’t be many teams who in their last eleven knockout cup ties have faced premier league opposition. Hope we play the underdogs role and knock the Jam Tarts out.Game scheduled for Tuesday 25th September at present

Absolutely horrific draw and we're as good as out. Hearts are on a great run just now and at Tynecastle have been forimdable since last year. Our luck with cup draws is utterly staggering.

Certainly looking at that draw you need to think our slim chances of winning the cup are now nil...but tbh this the nature of the LC in the current form, so in a way this is not a particularly tough draw because it's pretty much what you can expect if you seed the European teams in the last 16. We can produce one big performance in a cup, maybe even two, but from here we'll need three massive performances against three teams better than us to win it - it didn't happen last year and won't this year either.

Anyway, LC quarters is certainly not failure for us and who knows, Hearts imploding on a bad night is hardly outwith the realms of possibility.
