    Adam Hammill having trial .....

    Adam Hammill is on trial with Scu nthorpe United.

    The 30 year old Liverpudlian spent last week training with the Iron in a bid to win a contract following his release from a second spell at League One rivals Barnsley.

    I agree that his talent was a little wasted at times and he should have done better but at least we have had the privilege of seeing that talent he possess first hand. I think he certainly goes darn as a cult hero to Barnsley fans. What hes done darn here puts him up there with the very best in my opinion. That's summat he should be very proud of whatever happens in his career. Many footballers would take that Roma, they're memories that should be treasured. It's kind of sad that what initially looked to be like a classic fairy tale comeback petered art over the last 18 months and along with it did the club's fortunes too.

    Scun Thorpe will not be offering a contract to trialist Adam Hammill at this stage.

    The former Barnsley man spent last week training with the Iron in a bid to win a contract with the club, but manager Nick Daws has decided against offering the 30 year old a deal with question marks over the players fitness.

    Hammill was released by Saturday’s opponents Barnsley following their relegation to League One this summer.
