    Dawson

I was pleased to see him back and indeed he looked solid for the short period he came on.
On the other hand, Bartley has yet to convince me he is worthy of a start. Is it just me ? Not too sure what our options are, but he does not install any confidence.

Been to the game tonight and just got in the house. Have to say having only seen him on tv I would agree with you.

However, I was pleasantly surprised about him tonight. I thought he looked pretty decent and far ahead of Hegazi for me. Looks strong coming forward and can play a bit as well as defend. I have changed my mind about him after his performance tonight and hopefully he will improve more as the season progresses.

Thanks for the ‘live’ comments Yarm buddy. I hope you’re right and he settles in.

I also think Dawson should get back in the heart of tbe defence straight away. Bartley can only defend when he is holding the opponets shirt and Hegazi is very poor. I think Dawson should partner Tosin as the two centre backs. Tosin hasnt looked comfortable as a right back but always looked better in the the middle. With Gibbs at left back we just need a solid natural right to complete our back four.

I think Moore should persist with 3-5-2. He didn't last night (I don't think, hard to tell) and we were pretty poor. One of those back 3 being Dawson. He is now staying, use him.

He is our best defender, by some distance.

Although it looked like he got under the ball for their goal last night. Couldn't work out if he left it because he got a shout from behind him though?

Either way, I would keep him and Hegazi in. I think they looked pretty solid together in the games they played last year. And if we keep to 3-5-2, choose between Tosin and Bartley for the last spot.

So Dawson isn't our best defender then. Please go on and tell me how so...

He's our best defender 'by a mile'. Needs to be at the heart of the defence and not at right back though!
